Sergey Zadvorny was born in the Ukraine and graduated with a Gold Medal and Honors from the Odessa State Conservatory. His teachers include E. and L. Ivanov, Odessa, Mario Melani and the legendary Carlo Bergonzi in Italy.
His repertoire includes roles such as Pimen in Boris Godunov by Mussorgsky, Gremin in Eugeny Onegin by Tchaikovsky, Inquisitor in Fiery Angel by Prokofiev, Old Gypsy in Aleko by Rachmaninov, Khan Konchak in Prince Igor by Borodin, Don Basilio in Il barbiere di Siviglia by Rossini, and Don Magnifico in La Cenerentola, Don Bartolo in Le nozze di Figaro, Colline in La Boheme all by Puccini.
Recitals and oratorio credits include Rossini’s Stabat Mater in Salzburg, Das Gluck von Edenhall by R. Shumann and Handel’s Acis and Galathea in Italy.
Sergey has performed at the most famous opera stages in Europe including the Bolshoi Theater in Russia, Opera of Zurich, Chatelet in Paris, Scala di Milano, Teatro di Torino, Communale di Bolgna and the Rossini Opera Festival in Pesaro, Italy.
He is a winner of eleven International Competitions: the Tchaikovsky Competition, the Dvorak Competition, the Lauri Volpi, the Voci Verdiane, the Toulouse Competitions in Italy and two International Competitions in USA. In the United States he received theMc Allister Award in Classical Production at Carnegie Hall in July 2004. In San Francisco he recently won an honor to sing a recital at the Carnegie Hall next season.
Sergei also has a Master's degree in mathematics.
